How Mid-County Senior Center Works
Want to get involved? MCSC Committee meetings are open to all members. You can learn about ideas and projects under consideration, make suggestions, help formulate the future direction of the Center and vote on proposals. We welcome your input and participation.
Building and Property Committee
oversees the upkeep, improvement and safety of our Center and proper. Renovations and upgrades must meet the local Building Code as well as conform to the Adults with Disabilities Act. The Board of Directors must approve the Committee's proposed ideas, suggestions and projects before they can be implemented.
Finance Committee
reviews the monthly Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Statements and monitors the Center's expenditures and income. The Committee uses this information to make decisions on proposals make by the Building Property Committee and assists the Board of Directors in granting final approval on large ticket items.
Publicity Committee
advertises all MCSC activities and events by producing flyers, submitting information to various Community Calendar sections of local free publications (both hard copy and on line) and placing paid ads (upon approval of the Board) in The Santa Cruz Sentinel. They also sometimes utilize radio and Community Access TV for advertising. In addition, they assist with production of the MCSC Newsletter and help organize fund raisers for the Center.
Ways and Means Committee
is where new activities and events get their start or changes in existing activities such as meeting times or changing instructors are discussed. Any member wishing to start a new activity must complete a New Activity Form (available from our Coordinator) and present it to Ways and Means in person. The form must include the name of the volunteer willing to be the Activity Leader. Upon approval by the Committee you must then present the proposed Activity to the Board of Directors at their next monthly meeting (the third Friday of the month) for final approval.
